Tattoos For Women

Girls getting a tattoo has become a popular trend recently. If your a girl considering getting a tattoo, realize this is serious business. There are health concerns, and the tattoo will be with you forever, so it is essential that you get something that you feel comfortable with. Don’t listen to people who tell you that tattoo removal is easy. It may be easier now than it was years ago, but it is still fairly painful and quite expensive. Don’t count on using tattoo removal as a potential out, instead, make the right decision in the first place. These are questions that you should ask yourself now, as you are sitting at the computer reading this article, rather than when you are standing outside of a tattoo parlor, with your friends pressuring you to choose a design for a new tattoo.

Is getting a new tattoo a trendy thing to do? If so, then you will likely be happy with it for the next year or so, until everyone else starts showing up with the exact same tattoo. Then you will look like you are following the crowd, which seems to defeat the purpose of getting a tattoo, which is a pretty individualistic statement in most cases. Also, ten years from now, your skin will look dated like last year’s fashions. Do you really want to walk around wearing something that is the fashion equivalent of the 1980’s big shoulder pads or big hair 20 years from now? The solution will not be as simple as changing your clothes or hairstyle. Instead, make sure that the tattoo you get suits you, as an individual. Have you always liked cats since you were a child? Perhaps that is the tattoo for you. Make sure that you get the version that you want, and not the artist’s idea of what a cat is, otherwise, your charming green-eyed black cat may turn into a tiger with blood dripping out his mouth. Make sure that you are very specific about what you want in your tattoo design.

Where do you want to put the tattoo? On the one hand, the point of getting a tattoo is so that other people can see it. On the other, there are some people who you will not want to see your tattoo. How many people do you know who have tattooed their knuckles hold down a well-paying job? Consider what social situations you find yourself in. If you are still a student, imagine what the future may bring. If you are considering a tattoo on your calf, that may be okay if you are a guy, but what if you are a woman? Do you really want to have to wear trousers to all business and formal events? If you are fortunate enough to work in a creative, tolerant environment now, consider that this may not always be the case. Think about getting the tattoo on your back, where it can only be seen if you are wearing a bathing suit or a halter-top if you are a woman. That way, you will never have to choose between your tattoo and your professionalism.

Is the tattoo artist talented? Ask to see a portfolio of his or her work before you commit to getting a tattoo put on your body by that tattoo artist. Can he do custom work? If so, can he show you examples of previous custom work? It is best to go with a tattoo artist whose work you have admired on another person who can assure you that the artist has good communication skills and can translate what you say you want done into excellent artwork. Finding a good tattoo artist is much like finding a good hairdresser, only with a tattoo, it doesn’t grow out if you are not satisfied.

Is the tattoo artist professional? You want to make sure that the person who will be sticking ink-filled needles into your skin is not using any substances that might alter his judgment. You also want to make sure that you go to a tattoo parlor that is very clean. Check with the city department of health to see if it has any black marks on its record. The importance of this cannot be overemphasized. Hepatitis B and other bad things can be transmitted via tattoo needles and unsterilized equipment. We have all heard horror stories of tattoos gone bad, but you don’t fully realize the extent of exactly how bad it can be until you see your friend who got a cool new tattoo two weeks ago in the hospital with a bad staph infection and red streaks of poison running down his arm. When you see him again, after the bandages are off, and notice that a chunk of flesh is missing from his arm, because of unsterilized or unclean equipment, then it really sinks in. In our quest for beauty and decoration, we do not want to inadvertently make our bodies deformed.

Can you get through the entire tattooing process? Before you commit to getting a tattoo, let the artist use an empty needle on the location that you want to get tattooed so that you’ll know whether or not if you can handle the pain for the hours that it can take to get a tattoo. Some individuals claim that getting a tattoo hurts a great deal, while others say that it is no big deal, and simply feel a slight burning sensation. Individual tolerances to pain differ widely, so make sure that you are not going to end up with only a partial outline of your dream tattoo before you succumb to the pain and beg the artist to stop. Also make sure that you have the funds to get your tattoo completed. Some of the larger tattoos may take several sessions, and each session can cost hundreds of dollars, depending on the time the artist takes. You do not want to have half of a tattoo. Make sure that you can afford the entire tattoo before you get started.

If you are absolutely certain that you want a tattoo, and choose the right artist and the right design, not to mention the right spot on your body, chances are, you’ll be happy with your tattoo when you are eighty years old. That’s the most important thing to consider, imagine yourself when you are eighty. Will you still like your tattoo then? If you think so, then most likely you will have made the right choice in getting a tattoo.
