Farouk Chi Flat Iron Review

Farouk CHI Auto-Digital Advanced Wet to Dry Ceramic Ionic Flat Iron 1-1/4″ with Free Stand and Thermal Pouch

Farouk Flat Iron

Farouk Flat Iron

I have been using Farouk flat irons for years now. This my second wet to dry flat iron and I love it! I would never go back to a plain dry flat iron.  The auto-digital feature is really nifty too!

Farouk Chi irons are superior to all other flat irons because of their temperature level and even straight results I get in my hair. The temperature is identical to the digital display on the front of the flat iron. This is why you buy a Farouk Chi styling iron.  The Farouk hair styling tool is for serious  hair straightening.

Learning how to use the Farouk Wet-Dry iron is the real trick. It is not something you just pick the iron up and use, nor can you simply use on wet or damp hair with the same old products. There are some key points you need to know about the Farouk Chi Iron.

Wet to Dry Farouk Flat Iron Tips:

Key Benefit: The number one benefit of the Farouk Chi wet-dry iron is resistance to humidity. When I started using this iron, I stopped getting chemical and thermal straighten at the salon. I live in a humid city and I have zero curl, fizz or puffiness when humidity is at max. I only get this benefit with the Farouk wet-dry styling iron.

Consider that you are steaming your hair with the we-dry styling iron and it is safe. You don’t have to worry that you are damaging your hair, either. You are actually steaming out the wave in your hair. The key to getting good results with the Farouk flat iron is to never to move steadily and evenly down your hair.

Water Content: Damp almost dry hair works the best when using the Farouk flat iron for many reasons. It is faster, and the outcome is virtually the same as on wet hair. Some professionals tell you NOT to use this flat iron on true wet hair. I have used it on wet hair, but it takes forever, takes more skill and as I mentioned the results will be the same. Note however that the more water you steam with, the more humidity resistance you will enjoy. You’ll figure out the correct wetness for your needs. Start out with dryer hair and gradually work damper with each attempt.

I was told by my hair stylish that silicone based thermal products are the best products to use with a wet-dry iron. The cheap hair thermal protectors leave my hair feeling stiff. The nicer silkier products are hardly noticeable. Yes, use hair product before you blow dry and again before you iron. No need to use on each section. Just a small drop worked into your hair. I like Paul Mitchell thermal spray before I dry and the hair protectant before I use the flat iron.

Drying hair in preparation for the flat iron.  There are a couple of approaches depending on your time commitment. You can simply get all the water out of your hair with basic simple blow drying. As long as your hair is damp to the touch this method will produce pin straight hair once you iron. or you can straighten your hair with a round brush and blow dry your hair in sections. Again as long as you leave each section damp to the touch the iron will work great.  Remember leave your hair a little bit damp. Don’t blow  dry it completely. If top sections of hair get dryer as you work, a little spray of water does the trick.

The trick to flat ironing is to start at the nape of your neck and work forwards. Divide your head in half down center and then pin all up except what you are working with. Flat iron in small sections about a 3rd the width of your iron’s length. This produces the straightest outcome. Use a heat resistant comb to catch the hot section of hair.

Your Farouk flat iron should produce steam, that is how you know there is still water on the shaft. Do NOT leave the iron in one place EVER!  Catch your hair close to the head and iron till one inch before the hair ends. You may have to go over a section of hair again but that is the idea. Once you have completed that section of hair you can then gather the entire section of hair in the flat iron, and iron to the ends of the shaft. This protects the ends of your hair from drying out.

How to Tweeze Your Eyebrows

Plucking Your Eyebrows

Plucking Your Eyebrows

Putting on cool eye makeup without cleaning up your brows in like wearing a killer new dress with muddy sneakers. But remember: Easy does it! The goal is to look natural but groomed when tweezing your eye brows, not to look like an overplucked chicken. Here’s a fail-proof, six-step plan for plucking your eye brows.

Set aside time to pluck your eyebrows right after showering, or hold a hot, wet washcloth over your brows for a few minutes. (Tweezing hurts less when your pores are still open from the steam.)

Brush brows upward with a brow brush or an old toothbrush. This way you can see any hairs that are really out of line.

Use a eyebrow tweezer with an angled or pointed tip (it makes it easier to grab hairs), following the natural shape of your brows. Pluck only the stray hairs underneath your natural arch, and any really obvious strays above your brow. Be careful not to do too much grooming above your brows, it’s an easy way to screw up their shape! Pull in the direction that hairs grow, and pluck only one hair at a time. Midway through tweezing, pause and step back a bit from the mirror to get a better perspective on what still needs to be plucked.

Don’t try to change the shape of your brows dramatically or create an arch that isn’t there. The shape you were born with is the most flattering one for your face. If you want to enhance your own natural arch, the highest point should be about three-quarters of the way toward the end of the brow or even with the outer edge of your iris (colored part of your eye). Brows should taper slightly from the arches to the ends. The ends should extend beyond the outer corners of your eyes.

If your brows are sparse, fill in gaps with a brow powder, eye pencil, or matte eye shadow. To give naturally dark brows a lighter appearance, try smearing a tiny bit of foundation onto a toothbrush and brushing across brows in an upward motion.

When finished, repeat the brushing step to give tweezed and filled-in brows a groomed look.
